Tandems in the Capital

A chilly, windy, but fine day got two energetic riding groups out for the third annual tandem weekend organised by Fitability on the 11th and 12th August.

Along ride took the tandems out to Uriarra Crossing breaking away from the short route tandems at Stromlo Park, the easy riders returning to the Acton Ferry Terminal vi Mount Taylor and Old Parliament House. The Saturday night dinner attracted some twenty tandem enthusiasts for good food and lots of bike talk.

On Sunday interstate visitors were introduced to some of Canberra’s best local cycle paths with a ride along O’Connor Ridge to Lake Ginninderra returning down Cook hill to the National Museum for coffee.

The exchange of ideas between locals and visitors provided information about how we get information out about such weekends. The weekend provided a valuable recreational time with great social-ability.

We look forward seeing our new friends again and  meeting more tandem riders next year.
