I volunteered to be a tandem pilot without too much though for who might be the stoker, actually I didn't know that's what they were called. Initially it was just another cycling discipline to experience. But it’s a lot more than just riding a bike.

I enjoy the longer rides, less stopping and starting. But then the shorter rides always include a coffee and food stop, something else I enjoy. I've been a pilot, inconsistently, for nearly two years, piloted for men and women, hearing and visually impaired. I've tandemed in community events like Ride for Amy Gillett Foundation with an aspiring paralympian and regular Pedal Power social group rides. I do it as a way of reconciling some input back to the community, and to that end, I encourage people to become pilots.
